Buying a shed can be exciting, figuring out which foundation to place it on takes some thought.
Of course the easiest spot to place a shed is directly onto the ground, however, it's not the most efficient. Setting your shed on on the ground will cause the wood to rot. Floors in the shed will get wet and start to warp and smell over time.
If you want a more durable, stable and level shed, it’s always a better idea and investment to place it on some sort of foundation. There are many options out there for shed pads but gravel and concrete are the two most popular.
How do you choose? Well, It's pretty simple.
If your shed comes with a floor, gravel foundation is perfect. If your shed doesn’t have a floor, you should choose concrete. A gravel pad is usually the most affordable and best all around option, gravel allows water to drain away from the bottom of your shed protecting it from water damages, while a concrete foundation is typically the more expensive option, its an option that will always out-last your shed. However, sometimes, inside city limits, sheds over 200 square feet may require concrete over gravel foundation.
Decisions, decisions.
